As the Multi-Gigabit motherboards become more and more affordable it's time to find the right switch for the job. Most of the motherboards we see on the market today offer 10/100/1000 and 2.5Gbit/s Base-T connectivity. Sure you can still use the Gigabit switch that you had for 10 years but shouldn't you treat yourself to a better and faster switch? You absolutely should! Keep in mind, that your internet traffic will be limited to your ISP. The fast speeds will be between clients that support 2.5 gigabit that is plugged into the switch. I am looking at a very interesting small/medium business network switch the S3600 series is a Layer 2 Multi-Gigabit 8 port (10/100/1000/2500Mbps) switch that has POE+ capabilities and 4 SFP uplink ports that support 1 and 10 Gbps SFPs. So if you have storage solutions such as NAS devices or storage arrays you can certainly connect them here.
